All the existing skitch.com services will continue for users. And many of you will be happy to know that the Skitch name and soul will continue and grow bigger and bigger. And the development of Skitch will now be able to broaden and flourish like never before, with Evernote know-how and resources allowing Skitch to finally reach all those computers, tablets and phones out there. In short, that means better experiences, and new stuff for you!

Skitch for Everybody

The full version of Skitch will be now be free to users, which will mean Skitch will be able to help many more millions of people to share and draw attention to their important stuff.

First Steps: Android

We’re also really happy to announce Skitch for Android; a great first step towards a broader vision. Skitch for Android is a great of example of what can, and will, be made possible with the right support and resources. Take a snapshot, open an image from gallery or start with a blank page. Add some arrows, text and other annotations, and then share to the world (or your Evernote application) — all from the Android app. And yes, many of you are no doubt saying “where’s my iOS version?!”. The answer is, it’s on the production line. It’s coming!

Like many inventions, Skitch was a product built to solve our own needs. The first prototype was very simple, yet we used it every day — it was just a red rectangle frame with a pencil tool and the ability to screen grab. Before Skitch, we had worked online with staff all over the world and found getting clear ideas and feedback to other people very time consuming. When we started working on Skitch in 2006, there was no other way to quickly screengrab, annotate and share. We added more features, invested a lot of time making the workflow fast and released it. People loved it.

Creating an account to share on skitch.com within the app is fast. The first time you press share in the app, your image is uploaded, you enter your email, password and username… That’s it, you are up and running!

We’re always striving to keep Skitch the fastest way to share ideas visually.
