Skitch Love

Skitch Love

Yes, we get a lot of Skitch love from fans. We consistently hear positive feedback about the UI design, simple/fast workflow and frankly, praise for the “fun factor.” Mac users love Skitch and are very vocal about this fact.  We’ll try to remain humble as we launch Skitch from Beta to a Full Version 1.0 release. (but we do want to win another Apple Design Award, hint hint.) Of course with a program as popular as Skitch we’ve also heard, almost daily, “when will Skitch be available for Windows?”

We definitely sympathize with Windows users who want an image editing tool that’s as easy and as fast as Skitch. After all, capturing an image is only part of the workflow. Having Skitch on a Windows machine to capture, edit, upload to a web server and instantly share images with others is one of our goals. Image collaboration regardless of the type of computer you use (including mobiles) should be easy and take no more than a few seconds to edit and share a captured image with anyone.

We’re not announcing a Skitch.exe just yet, but if you or your friends have a Windows PC, there is nothing stopping you from using Skitch.com as an image host and sharing hub.

Why Using Skitch.com is a Smart Move for Windows PC Users

  • All of your Mac friends already have Skitch and tease you about it weekly.
  • View and comment on your images created by friends, co-workers & peers . This can be a lot of fun, especially when you use live image comments.
  • Use your Windows Mobile Phone Camera to capture a photo, email it to Skitch.com and Twitter the image to all of your followers in about 15 seconds. Snap, Email, Share.
  • Email photos from your mobile to Skitch for storage, edit later.
  • Turn your mobile/emailed images into a public feed that anyone can subscribe to.
  • Use Skitch.com to send your uploaded images directly to Twitter. A message, plus a tiny URL is sent to your followers.
  • Skitch.com provides multiple URL type’s for you to use when sharing your images. Embed for bloggers is a popular one.
  • You can invite your friends to have fun using Skitch with you.

You can take a screen shot perfectly easily in SnagIt, edit it, add text and arrows and such, then send it to wordpress or flickr, or via email, to photobucket.

What is it that skitch does that’s better, easier, or more fun?

Also, when will it be available on windows?

SuezanneC - The best way to find out what Skitch is all about is to try it for yourself. Everyone has different opinions, but we think you’ll like how easy to use Skitch is. There are also many blog posts to help you learn more about Skitch while comparing to other tools on the market. Here are a few:

I’d love to test Skitch for Windows if you need testers. I’ve been using it on my Mac Mini for months now, and I’d love to be able to use such a wonderful app on my Windows machine as well.

  15. borges says:

Skitch webpage that is public will not show on Internet Explorer website…no images come up. Sort of the other end of the problem, but if you have Windows users I think it will have to work with IE. Personally I only use IE to see what doesn’t work on IE when I offer stuff out on the web. Thanks.

Any news on this? It’s been nearly two months, and I’ve not seen anything else about the Windows version. Getting close, I hope?
